Three years have passed since the fans of Lovcen last celebrated the title of the country’s champions. It was the fourth consecutive championship season.
From that time onwards, a series of moments came up – the club fell almost to the bottom of the first league table, the biggest name of the Montenegrin men’s handball was no longer in the narrower circle of favorites even in the domestic context, followed by a reorganization. This process soon gave the first results – last year it was crowned with a trophy dedicated to the winner of the Cup, and this – as planned – won the title of champions. Eighth in club history, the sixth in an independent Montenegro.
Cetinje handball players came up with only one defeat, and with great superiority in relation to the Tivat „Partizan“ – from which they mathematically „took“ the trophy in the mutual meeting led by Zoran Abramovic.
Last year, Zoran Abramovic took the „Lovcen“ bench at the moment when this engagement was not exactly the most desirable. And it did not happen for the first time – the Cetinje expert responded to calls from „Lovcen“ and earlier when the club was in an unenviable position. But each of these chapters has an identical conclusion – Abramovic led the Cetinje to the title.
That’s how it was now. He was the most trapped expert in the sphere of men’s handball in an independent Montenegro, and this time with his team won the rivals – until the goal was set at the beginning of the season.
In the first reaction after tonight’s match in Tivat, Abramovic said that he was glad that his players used the opportunity to mathematically secure the title.
– I think we have absolutely deservedly won the title. From the beginning to the end of the championship we were the first and today we have proved against our direct competitor, our guests, that our title was earned. Although we had the opportunity to win the title in the last round, I’m glad we solved it tonight
I am particularly proud of the way we played the entire mini-league for champions. We should not forget that we spent a great part of the season playing and training outside of Cetinje for the renovation of the house.
The Lovcen Strategy believes that the new success can be an introduction to even greater achievements.
– The big thing is the title in Cetinje after two years. I hope that this will be a flyer for our further plans, and this should definitely be more than a performance in the domestic championship. This club and these players deserve it, and I congratulate them on their hearts for their outstanding commitment and attitude – said Abramovic.
Cetinje will still wait to celebrate the return to the deserved first place. By the end of the competition, the last round of the last round against the „Unity“ was left, followed by the final tournament of the Cup of Montenegro – an ideal opportunity to „Lovćen“ competition season 2017/18. end up in the best possible way.
