VLADO SOLA CHANGES IGOR VORI ON THE BENCH OF PPD ZAGREB

One of the hottest benches in Europe lives in PPD Zagreb, and Igor Vori found out and experienced that at the very beginning of his coaching career. After only four months in office, the legendary Croatian ace is no longer the head of the professional staff of the best club in this country. The new coach of PPD Zagreb is Vlado Šola

A change is necessary, the common conclusion of both sides is after the talks held during the week, it is stated in the announcement of the club.

In June this year, Vori replaced Veselin Vujović as coach, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. The fact is that the results of Zagreb at the start of the season are very bad – they took fourth place in the F4 SEHA Gazprom League in Zadar, and at the start of the EHF Champions League they suffered three defeats in the same number of matches.

Coach Vlado Šola will make his debut on the PPD Zagreb bench next Wednesday, October 14, when the Croatian handball champions will play in Barcelona.

  • It is certainly not pleasant to find yourself in a situation when you do not have too much time to meet the team, but the invitation from Zagreb is not rejected and I am honored to have received this opportunity. When I thought about Zagreb, I always knew that I wanted to be a part of that handball family and that as a coach I wanted to further affirm myself by working in the best Croatian club. However, now the words of one writer come to my mind who said ‘happiness is beautiful only while waiting’. I have welcomed my happiness, which is now becoming a great obligation and a burden that I will have to carry with my associates and the rest of the club. I will dedicate all my knowledge and skills to the team and creating results. In the end, I would like to thank Igor Vori who did the best he could. It’s a sport, sometimes there is no success, sometimes you run out of luck. His work, I am sure, was of very high quality and I will try to continue where he left off and upgrade it with my ideas – said the new head coach of the PPD Zagreb handball club Vlado Šola.

On two occasions, Šola was the goalkeeper’s coach of the Croatian senior national team, worked for a while in Qatar, was the head of Dubrava’s professional staff and led the Beijing University team in the SEHA Gazprom League. He went to school in Zagreb and finished his playing career in 2008. Soon, during the day, the official promotion of the new head of the „Plinara“ profession is expected.
