– The idea of creating an academy because we came in the junior and cadet age Montenegro is lagging behind. Without a strong base of guys still in the pioneering age can not continue. – Everything must change. I talked to the coaches in Bar, Podgorica and Bijelo Polje, and we agreed that it was our aim to create results in the younger categories, but players and recognizable systems, adjusted to modern handball. Montenegrins are the tallest people in Europe, and the team has until recently been one of the lowest.
– When I arrived, it was my priority to change this and we did it. We can forgive the wings that are not too high for running a counterattack, but I would like everyone else to be high.
We have probably the lowest pivot in Europe. Do you think the problem is that all senior players at the guard positions and how to change?
– We had two major pivot, but one went to Qatar (Jovo Damjanovic) and the other in Serbia (Mijajlo Marsenić). They would be ideal for Montenegro. We will try to retain talent in the future, but it will not be easy, because it is not a problem to us, but to the EHF, since it does not protect the state and alliances that create players. – Cadets in August have B European Championship, until then we have to make a good team.
