At the moment of the interruption of the Serbian championship due to the coronavirus pandemic in March, Rudar was in the middle, in the sixth place in the Arcus League with 20 points from 21 games. In the new season, „Energeticari“ will be almost in the same composition, the beginning of the preparations was scheduled by the head of the profession, Dragan Ajdačić, for August 3.
- Preparations begin on August 3. We adapt to circumstances like everyone else. We kept the complete team from the previous season and brought goalkeeper Miloš Stanković. We plan to hire two or three more young players in the position of right and middle back.
According to the proposal of the new competition model, Kostolac will play in Group B, in a league that will have a total of 16 clubs from next season.
- In principle, we were against enlargement. We think 16 teams is too many. But when that is already the case, it is better that the league was unique. This is how it will happen that at least four teams from 16 clubs will not even be seen by the home crowd. We have a bad experience from the time of the „blue and white league“. I don’t think that’s a good advertisement for our sport. A potential sponsor can simply ask what kind of league do you play? If there is no Metaloplastika, Vojvodina or Dinamo, Partizan, Crvena Zvezda …
From the financial point of view, Dubocica „pulled a thick end“, is she in the group with Vojvodina’s clubs and Partizan?
- Mutilated. In principle, we from smaller clubs are against the division of the league because if someone can gather two, three thousand spectators and they can’t see all the best clubs …
What are your ambitions in the group?
- Given that we have kept the team and with the arrival of a few more planned players to gain on the quality of training we have a chance to find ourselves among the four teams that would secure the Play off.
Who do you see as the main competitors in that fight, since Metaloplastika and Zeleznicar have already been „seen“ in one of the first two places?
- It all depends on the composition they will have. We have a chance, especially because we are left with a complete first lineup. Left back Vladimir Dimitrijevic, who was in Israel, may return. We are also trying to provide adequate training with four or five guys from the other team, since a lot of our players are working. We will see everything when the league starts, concludes Ajdačić.
