Somewhat surprising news comes from Romania – the new coach of Rapid Bucharest is the selector of the Spanish national team, Carlos Viver. He will replace Carmen Amariei in that position. With this move, the team from the capital confirmed its ambition to return to the top of Romanian women’s handball.
Despite bringing in several renowned Romanian handball players, Rapid desperately started the season, winning just two points in the first five rounds, becoming the first team in the national championship to change coaches since the start of the competition year.
Weaver will continue to work in parallel as the selector of „Warrior“. He arrived on the bench of the national team in 2017, and in 2019 he won a silver medal at the World Cup in Japan, after a dramatic final against the Netherlands, lost in a bizarre way in the last moments.
