The 6th international handball junior tournament „Handball is my future“ was finished in Bugojno.
In her first participation in the tournament, the German team won the first place with victory over Croatia 26:24 (12:12). Players of Bosnia and Herzegovina lost in the match for the fifth place vs Switzerland 24:25 (13:13).
The entire tournament was followed by the selector of the senior national team of our country, Bilal Schuman, who rated the tournament with a very high rating, and the performance of our hopes is very high quality.
– I’m very pleased with what I saw. It has this good potential and it is up to us to create good conditions. We do not need much to be close to these strong choices. What we need is more gatherings, such tournaments, in order to create the conditions for these guys to play qualifications and qualify for a big competition – says coach Schuman.
His notes did not remain empty. In addition to several handball players interested in the eve of the tournament, the Bugojno tournament has „brought him closer“ to several more names.
– Edin Klis, one of our best players in the junior category, is on my list. Our selection was without him and because of injury he played only one game in this tournament, against Croatia. The list is „A“ representation. I hope that the wrist injury will be speedily rehabilitated and will travel with us to Montenegro in two friendly matches – says Schuman and continues,
– I am satisfied with the right defender Nedim Hadzic, the guy who is responding, in these two years as a selector, at all gatherings of the national team. The game in Germany, has quality and potential, and I expect it to be a candidate for the „A“ selection of our country soon. There is a pivot Adin Faljić, I am very pleased with his game … So, they have three or four players who will, if they continue to do this very quickly, wear a jersey for the senior team – Shuman will be pleased.
He emphasizes that the overall situation in the Handball Federation of BiH is much more favorable, and the positive outcomes of our younger selections contribute to the positive atmosphere.
– Our focus is on youth selections, and I can say that we now have four youth choices, which was not the case in the past. At the Alliance and we all have to follow the work of these selections, we give support and it will surely give a result in due course – said the coach of the senior national team of BiH.
BiH best selection is expected in Montenegro, where two test games will be played.
– We have made positive progress in the past period. We expect qualifications in October and it is very important for us to be together in April and June. We expect the next week, for the weekend, two preparatory matches in Montenegro with the selection of this country. In June, we planned preparations for ten days, where we would play some more test-encounters. Every game is very important to us. We look with optimism for the next qualification, because, from the previous 16, now there will be 24 teams, and I see the chance for the first time to plunge into the European Championship – says the optimist at the end of the selection of handball team BiH Bilal Šuman
