RSCG and coach Per Johansson will not extend the contract

After the European Championship, which will be held in Denmark and Norway in December, the women’s senior national team of Montenegro will get a new coach.

The handball federation of Montenegro and the Swedish expert for „lioness“ clubs, Per Johanson, will not produce a contract that is valid until the end of 2020.

The coach of the Russian Rostov-on-Don has been the selector of the Montenegrin national team since November 2017, and he made his club debut by winning seventh place at the World Cup in Germany.

At the European Championship in France in 2018, Montenegro, led by Johansson, took the ninth place, until 2019, at the World Cup in Japan, it achieved the best result at the World Championships by winning the fifth position.

Thus, the Montenegrin national team will get the fifth selector in its history after the European Championship, because Nikola Petrović, Marko Ivanović and Dragan Adžić were on the bench before Johanson.

The new coach will face two big challenges next year – the fight for plasma at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and the World Cup to be held in Spain.
