Project The „Hand the Ball“

Swedish Handball Federation launches training of instructors in a project called: „Hand the Ball“

„Hand the Ball“ project uses a soft green ball, and the main activity is street handball and tricks with a lot of joy in movement. It focuses on the activity and tries to find the child’s inner motivation to participate. The goal is to move the game to a different environment, away from the focus of the results and in a creative way to get children to cooperate and communicate with each other.

The Swedish Handball Federation is now establishing the project as a national one based on a successful project in Stockholm, related to EURO2020. In order to be able to use the “Hand the Ball” logo and say that they are carrying out activities, instructors-trainers must undergo SHF training.

The value bases of the project are inclusion, community, equality and ‘fair play’. Funding for education varies from association to association, but it is possible to apply for funding from SHF projects and to launch Hand the Ball projects in the local area that target children and young people. Otherwise, the associations themselves can bear the costs of training coaches.
