Serbian national team coach Ljubomir Obradovic is pleased with the national team’s performance at the Carpathian Cup. Despite two tight defeats from Romania and Russia, the best Serbian handball players have been given good batches by weakening Dragane Cvijic, who will be back in the training process ahead of the European Championship, which is being held in France from Thursday.
– In a situation where we can be satisfied that the girls played both games. If anyone asked me who I would want for rivals, it would be the selections of Romania and Russia. Against the Romanian we played a great half, and after a lack of changes we lost. With Russia it was even better, they were in the lead up to 55 minutes, eventually lost to the goal. We had a ball and it was unresolved, but they used our mistake. In the end, we could not score a goal. By playing, acting and fighting, I can be satisfied, and I see that the girls are happy too. We have a few more training sessions, to do an analysis, to fix some details, there were many good things. There are some doubts that we have to solve until the first game on Friday.
In relation to the Carpathian Cup, Serbia will be stronger for the experienced Dragan Cvijic.
– I’m glad she’s back. I’m glad of her health, because of her as a girlfriend, and then only because of the handball. I’m glad that nothing is serious. We will be joining us on Monday or Tuesday, depending on the doctor’s assessment. It’s a joyful news. The French way will be 17, 14 players and three goalkeepers.
