March 21 will remain inscribed in golden letters in the history of handball club Maccabi Tel Aviv. That day victory (27-24) over the excellent „Hapoel“ Rishon“ our team coach Dragan Djukic won the Cup of Israel after exactly 52 years since the last title in this competition!
Dragan, Regards by www.rukometnitrener.com – can you tell us your own impressions on the occasion of this beautiful success of the team you manage?
– First, it was a great finale, the two great rivals, overtime, great atmosphere filled the hall – 4000 people have really enjoyed all the excitement that handball can provide. We were happier, more nimble and a little more prepared, with the mental strength to endure when our rival is pressed to the end, and I think we deserved to win the long-awaited trophy. The credit for this definitely belongs to this generation of players, who in this season shows that mature fully to the domestic league games (20 wins and as many games so far), and historic place in the finals of the EHF Cup. It was bright and early-generation champion Maccabi but this is certainly special and this is the crown of cabbage because these remind us that the only way to the trophy headed over three top quality rivals – third place in Ramat Sharon 1/4 finals, vice-champion Maccabi Rishon in 1 / 2 consecutive finals and twice Cup winners Hapoel Rishon in the final. What we would like to especially emphasize the support and teamwork of our coaching staff (Maksimovic / Komnenić / Djordjevic), which is struggling and we will try to present the Serbian profession in the best possible way.
